About the evening :

Year in year out, the Luna Classics offers up an exceptional piano recital. This year there will be two. In addition to Fazil Say, Menahem Pressler will give his only recital of the summer beneath LUNA at Nyon. Menahem Pressler is certainly the only soloist to have succeeded at the age of 90 in developing a second international career, being today invited by all the great orchestras and concert halls and jumping from city to city. His recitals are the quintessence of mastery of both instrument and score, a voyage into the history of classical music; in short, a rare opportunity.

By spanning almost a century and various continents, Menahem Pressler has become a living memory of classical music, transmitting the style of playing of the great composers of the 19th century. After fleeing Nazi Germany at the end of the 1930s, he then left Israel for the United States in 1946, where he won the Debussy International Piano Competition. The prize was handed to him by Darius Milhaud in person. It was a stroke of fortune that Menahem Pressler founded the Beaux Art Trio, a musical reference for more than 50 years. It is another stroke of fortune that he has returned to the concert halls as a soloist.
